For our purpose, we need to understand the youth, those referred to as the leaders of tomorrow in this great nation. The period of youthfulness passes rapidly, one should therefore learn to be spiritual as this is the stage one finally
prepares for adulthood.
In our attempt to discuss the spirituality of the youth, we shall not forego their religious beliefs or ignore the existence of spirituality within religions.
To be sure we are discussing Christian spirituality which is a serious response of man to the revelation of God’s love in Christ, may I recall that the spirituality of the early youth was necessarily that of the cloisters as it developed in the past when civilization was barely in existence.
In those days, Monks maintained a high exemplary prayer life profitable to the lay and clerics Devotions were directed to the cross, tombs of saints, and the mother of God. These external signs are indicative of spiritual states.
One can talk about the spirituality of people through their sensitivities to areas of spiritual life such as the quality of hymns, gospel music, liturgical exercises, sacraments, and usage of the
sacramentals.
The spiritual life is the Christian lifestyle lived with some intensity. The Baptized persons must realize that adopted sons and daughters of God are also facto brothers of Christ and in Christ Jesus.
Any level of spirituality that fails to recognize this brotherhood fails woefully in all aspects of life and in Eucharist but also in our daily relationship with Christianity. This brotherhood is shared not only one another.
